Habari, Kenya! 30.08.2011
One more East African state was added by SmsCoin project to the list of those countries where SMS payments are provided by the project - as of today our partners can accept the payments from the subscribers of mobile carriers in Kenya.
Kenya is considered to be one of the fastest growing countries in the region thanks to steady recovery in various sectors that form the basis of the state's economy. Kenya's telecommunication sector is no exception - according to the official data, out of more than 38 million people 55% of the population are the subscribers of different mobile carriers. This not too high figure indicates the overall welfare level of the population, but the entire data suggests that an unprecedented growth awaits Kenya in the nearest future - within the last few months more than 350,000 Kenyans have purchased Android smartphones for the compelling price of $80. And if previously smartphones were considered the privilege of the affluent segment of the population, a successful marketing ploy by Huawei company has demonstrated how popular high-tech devices are with the proper correlation between the price and the quality. Anyway, at this stage all the above-mentioned information points at that the implementation of SMS payments in Kenya appears to be the ideal solution for purchasing products and services, and perhaps the only alternative to the cash money - after all, other payment methods (debit cards, electronic payment systems) still remain quite difficult to access.
Currently, the rate worth 100 KSH (incl. VAT) is connected in Kenya, available for the subscribers of the major mobile carriers in the country.
